The Stafford County Circuit Court hears felony matters and misdemeanor matters brought by appeal from district court or by direct indictment. The courthouse is located at the following address:

Cases are divided between the Honorable Charles S. Sharp, the Honorable Michael E. Levy, and the Honorable Victoria A. B. Willis. Due to scheduling conflicts and caseload, substitute judges are frequently used.

Parking is ample. I advise most clients to leave their phone in the car. Phones are not allowed in the courthouse, and while there are several lockboxes you can use there is not a guarantee that one will be available. The Sheriff's staff will not watch your phone for you. Your possessions will be x-rayed and you will have to pass through a metal detector (sometimes after having removed belts and shoes) before you will be granted access to the courtrooms. Once you are through security, you can check at the information desk directly in front of you to find out where your case will be heard. Judges Sharp and Levy hold court on the upper level, one floor above the information desk. Judge Willis' courtroom is in the basement. No shorts or hats are allowed in the courtrooms. When your case is called, you may come forward but only as described below:

In Judge Sharp's courtroom, approach from the left. The prosecutors sit on the right hand side and the bailiff will not allow you to walk directly behind them.

Approach from the right in Judge Levy's courtroom because the prosecutor sits on the left.

In Judge Willis' courtroom, approach from the middle and then take the table to the left.
